On September 6th Troop 895 went on a wonderful ten-mile hike through the historic area of Mannases where the battles of Bull Run occurred. Along with the troop several Arrow of Light cub scouts joined us for the first half of the hike. The troop had lots of fun and took turns navigating the trail. We made good time on the hike despite stopping at every tree to exterminate its spotted lantern fly population which is invasive to the area.
The troop enjoyed the warm weather this weekend, practicing their backpacking skills with a campout at Marsden Tract and a 12 mile hike along the C&O Canal and the Potomac River.
